The Brihat Samhita (बृहत्संहिता) is an encyclopaedic Sanskrit text written by the renowned astronomer and mathematician Varahamihira in the 6th century AD. Unlike Manasara and Mayamata which focus exclusively on architecture, Brihat Samhita covers an extraordinary range of subjects — astronomy, astrology, natural phenomena, omens, gemstones, agriculture, and Vastu Shastra. It is one of the Brihat Trayi — the three great classical texts of Indian astronomy alongside Brihat Jataka and Brihat Parasara Hora Shastra.
