Vastu for your flat or villa in Bahrain

Upload the floor plan of a flat or villa in Manama, Juffair, Seef, Riffa or on Amwaj Islands, whether you rent it or are buying in one of Bahrain's freehold areas. Your score uses true north for Bahrain, maid's rooms and majlis are read correctly, and you confirm every room before anything is scored.

    Does Vastu work in Bahrain?

Yes. Vastu Shastra is organised around directions, which are the same in Bahrain as in India, so its guidance applies to a flat in Juffair or a villa in Riffa. On an island this small the compass reading hardly varies: about 3° east of true north everywhere, which VastuIQ corrects for you. The real work is in the plan and the rooms: north set correctly on the drawing, the main door's exact position, and local rooms such as the maid's room and the majlis read the way they are used.

    Bahraini homes, read correctly

The report uses the names on your plan and reads them the way a home here is built:

Villas in Riffa and Isa Town

A villa is read as a whole home: its outline, its centre and its main door with that door's exact position (pada). The boundary gate is not the main door.

    Maid's room

Read as a staff bedroom. Traditionally best: North-West, the zone traditionally linked with Vayu (air) and movement.

    Majlis and living room

Read as living and reception rooms. Traditionally best: North, North-East or East.

    Balcony and sea-view terrace

Read as outdoor areas. Traditionally best: North, North-East or East.

    Laundry and store

The laundry is read as a utility room and the store as storage, each by its direction.

    "Hall" on a plan

Indian-style plans often call the living room the "hall". On the confirm screen, choose Living room for it.

Renting in Bahrain: Vastu without changing anything

Many Indian families in Bahrain rent, in Gudaibiya, Adliya and the older parts of Manama, in Juffair, or in villas in Riffa and Isa Town, and some live here while working across the causeway in Saudi Arabia. A rented home cannot be rebuilt, but Vastu still helps in two ways: choosing the right home before you sign, and arranging the one you live in.

    1Shortlist homes

Ask for the plan of each flat or villa. Many older Manama buildings have none: use the Quick score with your phone compass as you walk through.

    2Compare them free

Check two or three flats side by side, or the same layout on different sides of the building, before you sign.

    3Choose "Renting"

Every fix in your report is then one you can make yourself, with no landlord approval and no building work.

    4Arrange the home

Where the bed, the desk and the prayer corner go, which room is used for what, colours, lighting and keeping the right zones clear.

    Island homes and freehold areas

Bahrain is an island country, and much of its newer housing stands on reclaimed land by the sea, on Amwaj Islands, in Seef, Juffair and around Bahrain Bay. These are also among the designated areas where non-Bahrainis can buy freehold. A sea view is not a Vastu rule on its own; what the report reads is the layout: tradition prefers open space and lighter rooms to the north and east, so a flat whose open side and balcony face north or east fits that well. Check current ownership rules with a registered broker; VastuIQ gives Vastu guidance only.

The sun over a home in Bahrain

Bahrain lies close to the Tropic of Cancer, so the midday sun is high all year and almost overhead in summer. In Manama it stands about 87° above the horizon at midday in June and about 40° in December. Daylight runs from about 10.5 hours in mid-winter to 13.8 hours in mid-summer.

    87°Midday sun in June, Manama
    40°Midday sun in December, Manama
SouthSide of the sky at midday, all year, Manama

These are measurements for your city, shown next to the Vastu reading, not Vastu rules. Classical Vastu asks for an open, light north and east; in Bahrain those are also the sides that take the least of the hot afternoon sun, while west-facing rooms and balconies take the most.

Compass vs true north in Bahrain

Bahrain is small, and a compass points about 3° east of true north everywhere on the islands. Your score still uses the exact figure.

Vastu in Bahrain: questions people ask

    Does Vastu work in Bahrain?

Vastu Shastra is organised around directions, which are the same in Bahrain as in India, so its room-by-direction guidance can be applied to a Bahraini flat or villa. What matters most is setting north correctly on the floor plan and reading local rooms properly. Vastu is a tradition; it does not promise outcomes.

Do I need to correct my compass for Vastu in Bahrain?

A little: about 3° east across Bahrain (World Magnetic Model). On its own that seldom changes a room's zone, and VastuIQ applies it automatically whether you upload a plan or use your phone compass.

Can I compare a flat in Juffair with a villa in Riffa?

Yes. Compare 2–3 homes works for any mix of flats and villas: the side-by-side comparison is free, and Home Buyer Compare (US$79, about BHD 30) adds a PDF that ranks them and includes the full report for the one you choose.

I live in Bahrain and work in Saudi Arabia. Which page is mine?

This one, for the home you live in: the score uses true north for your town in Bahrain. If you also have a home in Saudi Arabia, use the Saudi Arabia page for that one.

My flat in an older Manama building has no floor plan. Can I still check it?

Yes. Use the Quick score: stand in the flat with your phone compass and enter the direction of each room and of the main door. Choose "Renting" and every fix is one you can make yourself.

Is a sea-facing flat good for Vastu?

A view is not a Vastu rule on its own. Tradition prefers more open space and lighter rooms to the north and east, so a sea view to the north or east fits that well; how the rooms and the front door are placed matters more than the view.
